was supposed to be in virginia. and a tuesday event in virginia headlined by paul ryan have been cancelled. campaign stoppeders in virmingvirge are collecting supplies. ed to in wiss today in wisconsin democrats line. caller: you can listen to the headlines from fox news already that the president is going to fail miserable bli. that's the only plan they have is to bash the president at every single turn. they have no other answer other than bashing the president to make themselves look good. and as far as romney's campaign plan for the storm. they are no president. they have no power. all they can do is sit back and talk. so you can watch the headlines and all the conservative talk shows and the president fails. i tell you right now what the story is going to be. and that's basically all i have to say. host: let's look at how the obama campaign is retuning its depame plan in the wake of the storm. president is not attending an event in florida because of the hurricane. he is leaving florida to head back to washington. this is a report from the white house pool that covers the president. t

to elect mitt romney and paul ryan to save jobs in virginia? \[applause] are you ready to get the greatest country on earth out of debt and back to work by electing mitt romney? \[applause] i thought so. well you look all dried out and recovered from the store and god blessed us by giving us a glancing blow. what great work done by our first responders and government officials around the state. we are blessed to have done so well here in virginia. \[applause] you know a month ago president obama came to virginia and said if you don't win virginia, i won't be president of the united states. will you help him keep that promise? \[applause] we love having mitt romney here. but we like having president obama and joe biden here because they say the darnedest things in virginia, don't they? >> like bind saying it's great to be here in north carolina. and president obama saying he had a business but somebody else built that. does that sound like somebody who understands free enterprise and the american dream? fortunately, we have a candidate who does. i'm glad to have followed george allen. he wa

line is that he supports the elimination of traditional medicare in much the same way that paul ryan has proposed. they offer plans that would shift costs to seniors and they would be tremendously burdened with out-of-pocket expenses if their voucher didn't keep up with run away health care costs. i was raised by my grandparents so i had a chance as a young person to understand the value of medicare. i don't believe it's just a program, it's a promise. and in my campaign it's a promise that i vow to keep should i become wisconsin's next u.s. senator. >> congresswoman, the polls are showing the presidential race closer than i think people had anticipat anticipated. john kerry won wisconsin 2004. it's a little surprising it's being considered a swing state. paul ryan on the ticket is part of it. part of it is the economy. it seems like the wisconsin economy is underperforming. how do you talk to voters about president obama's record when that's the case? >> well, we all see signs of recovery, but i think across the nation and certainly in wisconsin a little frustrated with the pace. ne

on the millionaires and billionaires. to say you would not cut pell grants, as paul ryan wants to, yet it is important to understand where these two campaigns come from. this is an insider against an outsider. mr. davis had a fund-raiser over in missouri recently with a friend of paul ryan's. these people are helping him. the u.s. chamber of commerce, they are helping him. they are not doing it out of the goodness of their hard. they expect something in return should he get to washington d.c. to stand up for a budget that proposes. appeare we need education more accessible and more affordable. pell grants should be far more readily available to young people such as yourself. being that 75% of my funding comes from people just like you, ordinary citizens, an average donation of $61, the proof is in the pudding. that is why i am going to washington to work on your behalf to make sure you can get to college to graduate and to work to create jobs with in this economy. that we do not have to graduate with a mountain of debt. >> the hypocrisy. this is the same day my opponent took money from nancy manyi's g

eight times this year, governor romney has been here 6. paul ryan may be eligible to vote, he's been here that much. joe biden has been here once. we have had a lot of its from michelle obama. we have seen plenty of action this cycle. host: bill clinton could be coming to your state. he is scheduled to campaign for the president today in colorado. he was supposed to be in colorado springs tuesday but cancelled due to the storm. guest: pending the outcome of the storm on the east coast, we will see both candidates later in the week. governor romney was here last week and held a rally at red rock and thousands were turned away. the following day, he held a -- president obama held a rally in denver and drew a crowd estimated at 16,000. the governor this week has reserved an amphitheater in the southern suburbs of has a capacity of 18,000 people. there were looking at going to boulder to hold a rally there. they're certainly trying to turn out a lot of voters with momentum. >> one week to go and following on -- host: of one week to go and looking at the momentum in colorado. the numbers

in speaking there on the campaign trail. is he helping people understand the context. >> paul ryan giving important speech on poverty. really nuanced very specific speech on the case of poverty in this country and that we have lost the war on poverty. talking about the number of kids, you know, can't afford student loans dealing with food stamp issues. it was a very specific speech. so you have romney and ryan out there giving very specific speeches on the state of the economy. meanwhile, you have critics who say that the president they are using sort of name calling. we heard the romnesia thing we will talk about that with governor huckabee later in the show. closing cases. only 10 more days left who is making the more effective case. >> we hear about big birds and binders of women who are jobs and romnesia. we haven't heard much about poverty from the obama white house over the last four years which is kind of interesting and disturbing in at lo of ways. >> we will debate all of this coming up. there is so much more in the show. permission denied. new details about the terror attack in

in 2008. it would be a swing back for wisconsin. paul ryan is on the ticket. there's some thinking there and the polling is relatively close. he would also -- if he didn't win ohio, the run of all the swing states, colorado, virginia, north carolina, florida, et cetera. >> wisconsin is interesting. we neglected wisconsin, it's very important. wisconsin is a state where we had this recall election in the past. the ground game for the republicans is very strong. a lot of things about obama has been the ground game they have developed since 2008. it's been so efficient. so many field offices. wisconsin is the state where they had the recent recall where republicans invested in the get out the vote. it could be where you get the surprise. >> it's strong for progressives and organized labor because not just the governor's recall election, but the state house recall election, which actually went the other way. i have said from the beginning, which is a nice thing to be able to say, no matter what happens in the news and the polls, here is going to be my analysis of it for the rest of the

-- it sounds good until you realize that it was paul ryan and the ideological republican tea party caucus that tried to cut that budget by $300 million so that the president and joe biden did not have enough money to provide security. you get caught up in these things. they get amnesia or romnesia when the talk about the foreign policy. the four get to that it was president bush that got us into the worst foreign-policy debacle. we will be digging ourselves of the hole in iraq for a long time because of failed intelligence and a variety of other things. they remind me of the sports announcer. you watched the beginning of a football game. this analyst says this team is going to win for sure. this will be a blowout. and the game is over and they are wrong, and they do not even mention that there were wrong or made all these bad predictions. that is who they remind me of. you guys cost three-quarters of these problems and then you turn around and try to climb obama. but the american people are smart. they pay attention when the time is right. that is why you see obama doing well in places li

romney and paul ryan. [applause] >> let me ask you, will you do everything you can do to ensure we can bring back america's promise. are you going to do it? put up your hand if you're going to make phone calls, commit to mitt today. let me see your hands. commit to mitt. this year, in ohio, you can commit early to mitt. go down to lorraine, 1985 north ridge road and vote early. you can leave after the event here -- and then on election day we cna find five people we know to get to the polls to commit to mitt. going for it. and we have to help the republican team. he needs a team that is with him. we have to make sure jim is reelected. jim jordan, bob gibbs are here. and i want to be the senior senator from ohio. we need josh mandel in ohio. we need him now. you know, president obama -- over the last four years has made a lot of decisions. some of them, he siad would result in new jobs that haven't happened. he said he'd cut the deficit. it hasn't happened. we have someone who is running for president who knows how to bring back jobs. he has the experience. he has the experience and the

, if you. gill: it's okay. it's easy to say he wouldn't cut pell grants, as paul ryan pell grants, as paul ryan monster, but it's important to understand where these two campaigns come from. this is an insider against an outsider. mr. davis recently had a fundraiser in missouri. the u.s. chamber of commerce, they are helping him and they are not doing it out of the goodness of their heart. they are doing it because they expect something in return they get washington dc. that would be to stand up for a budget such as paul ryan proposes. it increases pain and difficulty for college kids. i think college needs to be more accessible and we need to make it more portable. as i indicated, i think the programs should be readily available to young people such as yourself. being that 75% of my funding comes from people just like you, ordinary citizens, an average donation of $61, the proof is in the pudding. that is why i'm going to washington, to work on your behalf to and make sure you can get college and graduate and hopefully work to create jobs again within this economy. so that we don't have t

mate paul ryan on a bus tour through ohio. >> know right now some people in the country are a little nervous about a storm about to hit the coast and our thoughts and prayers are with the people who will find themselves in harm's way. >> reporter: the president is flexing the muscle of incumbency. he spent you sunday afternoon at fema headquarters in washington. >> we want to make sure we're anticipating and leaning forward into making sure that we got the best possible response to what is going to be a big and messy system. >> reporter: asked whether the storm could affect early voting the president said that remains to be seen. >> we don't anticipate that at this point but we'll take a look. >> reporter: the storm has shaken up the campaign calendar. the president's only event is in orlando after which he'll return to the white house. vice president biden cut short a new hampshire campaign swing diverting to ohio. >> the last thing the president and i want to do is campaigning getting in the way of anything. more important thing is people's safety. >> reporter: tuesday's schedule i

[applause] if everybody finds five people in the washington court house or wherever it -- you live to make sure they support mitt romney, we can make a difference. you might want to consider that. it frees you up on election day to get those five people to the polls we will try to bring a lot of folks with us to be sure that we're banking those folks. we're free to do everything we can to ensure we have the victory on november 6. when barack obama ran for president he said we will cut the deficit in half. the deficit is now $1 trillion this year. he has added 50% to our debt to the point that it has gone to $16 trillion. it does not -- does that is working to you? and when he pushed to the health care bill through, he said, if you pass this legislation, we will reduce health-care costs. the reduction will be about $2,500. it actually has increased costs by about $2,500. does this sound like it is working? we are in the right place. and then the stimulus package, when he said i want a trillion d

presidential candidate paul ryan was here. we'll also be seeing, of course, president obama here today. you know, it's really interesting. something i want to point out, charles woodson of the green bay packers will be here to rally this crowd here at the airport ahead of president obama. he is the safety for the green bay packers. if you know about football, what does the safety do? they protect against long passes against, that's right, the hail mary, something the obama campaign is trying to do here in wisconsin. >> i like that football metaphor. i don't usually follow them all that closely. but thank you, brianna. appreciate it. little bit of a rough morning. traffic was terrible for you. >> yes. >> plus that three person rule. >> we had to drive around brooklyn, pick up cnn employees to hit the carpool rule. >> what a mess. thank you for being here. >> thanks for tolerating my lateness. >> we had an empty chair in honor of you. >> today is the day. >> let's bring in senator robert m menendez. there was a tour with the president and chris christie, taking a look at some of the really ha

you might expect. his running-mate congressman paul ryan turning some of the western state in colorado, nevada, reno and vegas. president obama hitting the campaign trail in earnest after taking a break for three days because of hurricane sandy. he started his push in green bay, wisconsin. the president is on his way to vegas. then he will go to an event in boulder, colorado. head together all-important state of ohio. ed henry joins us live from vegas. he goes along for the right. that's where the president's next event will be in a few hours. >> reporter: you can feel the intensity. we reached the final stretch. the president's aides are describing this as the final five days of his last campaign. win or lose he's not going to run for office again. the president unveiling a new wardrobe and new message. you see him with that air force one bomber jacket that says commander-in-chief. he had a new message in terms of a closing argument. his aides say this will be his final pitch. he has been negative on mitt romney. these last days will be more positive about what he thinks he can do in

. in 2009 rolled around they had huge spike in sales when obama was nag rated and we all know paul ryan reads it, rick is a fan. there's lots and lots of -- a whole ought to be anyway a whole atlas slugged caucus in the house of representatives. i'm forever seeing young people on the subway in washington, d.c., sitting down and reading. i had to read it, okay. so in 2009 i went out and got a copy and read it. i read the whole thing. the first thing i want to to say is never read it before going to bed.
